Arca helps Cornish Businesses Transition to a Circular Economy

Arca – Italian for ark – is a new research project aimed at accelerating circular skills for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

Part-funded through the European Social Fund and forming part of the European Strategic Investment Framework for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Arca will work with local businesses to co-design workshops and training programmes for individuals, microbusinesses and SMEs.

Arca will offer a range of training programmes and workshops covering topics such as:

  • Principles of the circular economy
  • Circular design
  • Circular business models
  • Change management
  • Emotional intelligence

Stefano Pascucci, Project Lead and Head of Sustainable Futures at University of Exeter and Professor in Sustainability and Circular Economy, explains: “Arca is a fantastic opportunity to support Cornish businesses and to develop the skills they need to transition to a circular economy.

“It is clear that if we continue with our current linear economy, we will not be able to remain within planetary boundaries. The transition to a circular economy is not a matter of choice. It is a necessity.’

Delivery of workshops begins in March 2022. The project ends in December 2023.
